In class this week, we had a project to create a flash banner for an advertisement. This form of advertisement appears in almost every website. Here is a list of tools and effects I used on Photoshop and Flash.
Photoshop
  1. Crop
  2. Text tool
  3. Paint bucket

Flash
  1. Created new symbol
  2. Free Transform tool and enlarged picture
  3. Changed brightness
  4. Changed contrast
  5. Moved photo to give it a shaky look
  6. Changed blur filters
  7. Changed color to Alpha
  8. Inserted Classic Tween

I created this advertisement to advertise my friends starting business. I am posting this on my blog to get the brand started and for my class assignment. The audience is for girls due to the pink and black colors. Hopefully for teenage girls celebrating different events. The message is to have a good party you have to buy a cake from Cake’s by Rebekah.

Advertisements worth a thousand words

In computer class I made an advertisement for my friends business called Cakes by Rebekah. My intended audience for this advertisement was girls. I made my advertisement look pink and girly for that reason. This is the Advertisement I made:
I used a variety of tools to create this image. I used a word box to type the slogan into the advertisement. I also used a special brush tool that I downloaded off of a website to make the background. I also had to crop all of the pictures of cakes. I had to do this so the focal point of the picture would be the cakes and not have anything distracting on the side of the photo. I then dragged the cake pictures onto the advertisement and tilted it so it would look less up tight and more flowing.  I also put the logo at the bottom of the page

Logo

I made a logo in my computer 2 class this week.  I made a logo to my friend’s new business she opened up. Her business is called Cakes by Rebekah. It is a small business now that works out of her house but she is slowly getting a strong following, which is why I thought she should have a logo. I wanted my logo to communicate to clients and people who saw it that it is girly and whimsical. That is why I chose a girly, light pink and white. I also added a splash of light brown for the cake. I used proximity and grouping technic on this logo. As you can see I put “Cakes” big and by itself, I then put “by Rebekah” under it and to the right of “Cakes”. To balance it out, I put the Cake I drew above “by Rebekah”, and next to “Cakes”. I believe it is Grouped well.  Also, has great balance and alignment.

"The Perfect Body Image"

In computer class, we have recently learned about photoshop and how magazines use photoshop to make models/celebrities look better. We did this in class by photoshoping our face onto a celebrities.
Before

After

I think the overall transformation of my picture is good. I put alot of hard work and time into this. It looks good, I like how I matched the skin tone farely well.
I think magazine adds are unrealistic. They take perfectly fine looking people and make them look better. (almost unrealistic) Cindy Crawford was quoted saying "I wish I looked as good as Cindy Crawford". She said this referring to her photoshoots in magazines. They change girls pictures so much that the girl doesnt even end up looking at herself. Today I think the "perfect body image" is unrealistic. Studies have shown that since magazines and ads have started drastically changing pictures of girls, the number of plastic surgeries have gone up. Which shows that people do get low self esteem from looking at these unrealistic photos.
I used Blake Lively's body for this project and I got the picture from: http://www.cheapchicdaily.com/tag/Blake-Lively. I think I did very well on applying the lipstick to this picture. I also think I did well on cover up. I hid some pimple and moles well with makeup. Some things I think I could work on would be cutting my face out of my picture better. and also having it go well together with the body. The skin color blended well but you can still tell it is not me.

A Day in the Life of a Mercy Student

We had 2 days in class to work on this. The first day I used photoshop on these pictures. I got rid of the red eye some of the pictures had. I also cropped the picture of the lunch room on the left side. I also played with some of the lighting in them. For example in the photo of the girl holding the camera I changed the contract and coloring to make her hair stand out more. On the second day of school though I was out sick. I was not able to put them all together in a collage on photoshop so I did it on my own computer at home.
This picture truly shows a day in the life of a mercy student. I have afew pictures of us eating because mercy girls are known for eating like linebackers. I also included a picture of my senior servce group working on making braceletes and headbands to sell to raise money. I put that in because Senior Service truly does take up your whole life as a senior. I also incuded a picture of one of my friends holding a camera to me while my other friend makes a face. This shows my friends at mercy because we all like to hang out with eachother. And last but not least the picture of me and two of my friends at a basket ball game because school sports and spirit are apart of my everyday life

The Elements of Phoography

Their are alot of elements of photography. Here is an example of one:
This one is one of my favorites. It is a photo of me and my friends (play) fighting over something at my birthday party. It is using the element of a picture in motion. It really shows the person looking at this our true feelings and fun at this party. We did not know the picture was being taken so we were just acting normal. I think the pictures that capture your true actions and feelings are the best.

This picture is using the rule of lines. I think it is a great picture. It was taken by me at Disney World. I think the lines in it make it look neat, almost like a picture out of a postcard. The lines that are in it are from the balcony rails, the sliding glass door frame, and from the trees.

This is a picture using angle. (and alittle bit of motion) While my friend was talking I got a picture of here up close from the table looking up. I think this is a great angle.

Piracy Podcast

In our Computer class we learned about Piracy. We made a podcast talking about piracy and copyright infringement. We talked about how it affects the people who own the rights and what happens to people when they do copyright from other people. If you would like to listen to it here is a link to our podcast: https://docs.google.com/leaf?id=0B5k_jl2rGQmxYzBjMjVhYmQtNTUxMy00ZGU5LWI5ZWQtMTFlNmE2ODg2MGYw&hl=en_US
Out picture for our Podcast is:
The picture we have as our podcast picture is not copyrighted. We made this picture in Microsoft Paint and did not steal anyone's idea. Therefore, it is not copyright infringement. Our music we chose in our podcast does not infringe on any copyrighted material also. The music we chose came from Garage Bands library. All Garage Bands music is listed under public domain. So, in our Podcast we are not breaking any Copyright laws.
I personally think downloading music off the internet is wrong. It is wrong because when you illegally download music you are not just stealing from the singer but you are also stealing from the composer and music label that published it. You may think the artist are already rich stealing from them would not matter, but it does. If everyone just got their music for free no artists would get paid and they would stop making music all together. I believe copyright laws should exist because it is unfair if someone did all the hard work and someone just took it and said it was theirs. It should also be a law because it makes people want to do their own work and not rely on other people to copy from.
Piracy is really prevalent in our society today. A great percentage of people are obtaining pirated movies, CDs, and songs. I think it is prevalent in our world today because our economy is down and on iTunes the prices are going up for songs. The song pricing was raised from 99 cents to $1.29. And many people cannot afford to buy all their songs they like at 1.29 apiece. We should have this stop though because I would personally hate it if someone used my podcast without my permission.
